HaykoFBbannerEternity

Dear valued Customers and Friends,

We are excited to announce that as our business has once again outgrown its space, we have moved into a larger building in Long Island City.  In the meantime, we have significantly increased our collection of fine antique and semi-antique rugs through recent acquisitions. We are now located at 43-01 21st  Street, Unit 110F, Long Island City, NY 11101.

This location is even more desirable since Queensboro Plaza, which is two blocks away, can easily be reached by bus or subway from Manhattan in less than 15 minutes. Moreover, we extend complimentary pick-up and delivery service as a courtesy to all of our customers.

In addition to our over half-a-century of combined expertise in repairing antique and semi-antique Oriental rugs and European tapestries, we have increased our capacity of hand-washing them at our new location.

Undoubtedly, your precious rugs must receive the utmost expert cleaning and repair services to maintain their beauty and integrity for generations. We are committed to providing you with the same meticulous service as we have provided to several museums, an auction house, and many collectors. Building long-term business relationships with our clients is the most important aspect of our mission.

Most of all, I appreciated the promptness and courtesy of the pick-up and delivery, as well as the care of the carpets. Mr. Hayko understood the personal value of the carpets, explained to me their provenance, offered alternative options for repair, cleaned them well, and offered a fair price. He spoke with me directly, politely, and took time to answer my questions. I recommend him and Anthony…whom I forgot to tip for his service. My apologies! (I don’t think he expected anything, but it’s always nice anyway!) | |Thank you!

Pablo Picasso – Guernica (1937)

Guernica is a painting by Pablo Picasso, which he was already working on at the time of the Nazi German bombing of Guernica, Spain, by twenty-four bombers, on April 26, 1937 during the Spanish Civil War, and which he decided to name after it. The city was destroyed, although reliable witnesses such as the left-wing British journalist who arrived soon after have always believed that the damage was deliberately worsened by the garrison itself, using dynamite. In any case, a number of people variously estimated between 250 and 1,600 were killed in the air raid and many more were injured.
The huge mural was produced under a commission by the Spanish Republican government to decorate the Spanish Pavilion at the Paris International Exposition (the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris). Picasso said as he worked on the mural:
“ The Spanish struggle is the fight of reaction against the people, against freedom. My whole life as an artist has been nothing more than a continuous struggle against reaction and the death of art. How could anybody think for a moment that I could be in agreement with reaction and death? … In the panel on which I am working, which I shall call Guernica, and in all my recent works of art, I clearly express my abhorrence of the military caste which has sunk Spain in an ocean of pain and death.”
